Darknal follows, while Cosmic looks at the scenery briefly before heading off to follow them.Д¬onan, Darknal, and Cosmic arrive on a Forerunner outpost bridge unsurprisingly, the Elites are there as well. Conan soon returns and mentions he's found a possible exit. Cosmic asks whether or not if they will ever depart from the Installation, with Darknal replying that he has belief that they will, but sounds unsure of himself. The final scene shows the three dropping down on the last Forerunner location (Construct) in this episode, Conan goes to find an exit while Darknal and Cosmic talk about their time on the Ring. With quick thinking from Darknal, the group quickly escape down a hole and manage to kill their attackers with a plasma grenade and two trip mines. They occupy the vehicle and a brief chase ensues with another group of Elites in Choppers, until eventually a gravity hammer-wielding Elite minor sends them flying into a side of the relic site, destroying their only means of transport. They arrive at another Forerunner facility (Epitaph) and after a successful ambush they continue on their journey.Their hopes of finding a way to escape the ring are rewarded as they soon later find a Warthog at at a Forerunner Ruin (Sandtrap). After they narrowly triumph, the Spartans continue to move on.Дarknal and Cosmic discussing their time on the Ring However doing so, an Elite minor notices Omega and threatens the squad after having Conan at gunpoint, after a quick stand off Darknal asks a familiar question to his squad member which results in their victory. They drop down the Porter and find a group of Elites standing guard, they immediately crouch to avoid being spotted and begin to walk towards them in an attempt to assassinate the two. The tale begins as the three Spartans move across a Forerunner Complex (Isolation), they communicate with one and another, discussing whom should go down the hole first Conan leads and Darknal and Cosmic follow.

The series follows the three Protagonist's Darknal, Conan and Cosmic of Spartan Squad Omega as they attempt to flee the ring. After abandoning the soldiers on the ring, the UNSC fled back to Earth leaving behind material and ordnance.

The series is an alternate history set within the same timeline as Halo where another ring is discovered during the events of Halo 3. Initially posted in December 2007 on Darknal's channel, later moved over to the channel in July 2008. The Forgotten Spartans is a machinima created by Darknal. They are searching for a Hornet that was left, whilst trying to discover the mystery to their abandonment.Their mission, to find the hornet and escape the Ring.' -The Forgotten Spartans Part 1 Opening Description

Darknal's appearance in Rise of the Spartans indicates that the events of The Forgotten Spartans did not take place exactly as in the machinima, as he is killed in action by the latter's conclusion.' 6 months ago, three Spartans were left on one of the Halo rings.

This held true even a year later after the Fall of Reach when Darknal went out of his way to vouch for SPARTAN Dispatch Unit Kilo, particularly their squad leader, Nightflash. After the trial, Darknal stopped to discuss the matter with Nightflash's squad, explaining that his intention was to offer a Spartan's point of view before departing once more.ДЄt his core, Darknal's aim was the advancement of his fellow Spartan commandos while his criticisms were blunt and unrestrained, his intentions remained benevolent. His input, along with that of Blake Valentine and Ooskoo Ro'tam, convinced the Office of Naval Intelligence to issue a more lenient verdict.

During that time and the duration of the Battle of Halo, Darknal would lead Squad Omega through the discovery of another Halo ring and their eventual return to the war-torn Earth.Д«efore Squad Omega's deployment to another newly-discovered Halo installation, Darknal made time to attend Nightflash's trial in New Mombasa under charges of insubordination and desertion. Unlike most, if not all Spartan squads, Darknal's - SPARTAN Squad Omega - was secretly recalled from frontline combat during the Fall of Reach. The displayed skill of a Tier One cadet held a lasting influence on Nightflash's performance in the Academy. The cadets' failure brought Darknal's immediate criticism, which, when challenged by Nightflash, prompted Darknal to run the simulation on his own with perfect execution. Before his graduation in 2551, Darknal acted as an instructor for the Academy's lower-tiered cadets and in one instance gave a lesson to a group of Tier Four cadets including David-617 ('Nightflash').
